We did it – We walked for a cause!

I am a child and I am capable of mobilizing others for action- Beulah Irede Chigbu

My friends and I want the world to know that there are children like myself who are living with limb loss and there is a need to adequately care for them.

Trust me, Its really not a big deal because I can swim, dance ballet , fight Taekwondo and take care of my little brother.

We walked 2km, we had so much fun! Would you like to join us next time?

If yes please visit The Irede Foundation  for more information.

Every child is special – #OutOnALimb

I Love failures

c o m e  u p  w i t h (3)I do not like to fail. My fear of failure many time stops me from daring to do a couple of things I know I should do. Hear this, I am no longer afraid of failure and here is why…

God always causes us to triumph and to have victory.

Victory is not something we are trying to have. Victory belongs to us. We are at a vantage point because position-ally we are more than conquerors.

Our conditions may not look like it – but that’s okay.

A sailor never gets skillful without storms (Tweet that).

Here is the deal:

 Failure is an event!

It doesn’t matter how many times the event “failed” what matters is what we do after the “event”

Typically when events fail we react by giving up, quitting, being resentful , being hurt etc

While those feelings are real , we cannot be ruled by them.

We must respond by keeping faith, by trying again , pressing on, being kind, forgiving etc

I stumbled on a letter written to Fear by Joyce Meyer. (Click here to download) and I said to me!

I am done being afraid.

So today I am here to remind you Failure is nothing.

As a Volunteer for the IREDE Foundation, I find great joy and a sense of purpose in helping the organization empower child amputees to live a self sufficient life.

Last year, I manage an awareness walk tagged ” OUT on a LIMB” and there were amazing children who came out to walk with their parents. I love children and when I see them involved in activities in their communities, I have hope for the future.

These children choose to be advocates rather than sit in front of their computer or playing video games all day at home.

They volunteered their time and energy to those in need.

Today I celebrate these incredible young people, who made the choice to spend their spare time making a difference in the lives of child amputees.

If this child can, what are you waiting for?

An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge- Proverbs 18:15

Property may be destroyed and money may lose its purchasing power; but, character, health, knowledge and good judgement will always be in demand under all conditions-Roger Babson.

Knowledge makes all the difference, wealthy people like us can testify! #Smile.

One of the greatest habits I have developed is the discipline of reading. I am hungry for knowledge and I think you should too. Many of the things we literally pay for is our ignorance. I  am challenging you to read more this year. Go ahead and set reading goals for yourself . Start small but be consistent.

We live in an information age, you honestly do not have an excuse.

Please share the name of the book you are currently reading. Feel free to post it in the comment column (with a brief review).

Story Telling for a change!

Stories are powerful tools for change.

Come August 20th 2014 , I will be sharing my story with group of young social change agents ( who have demonstrated interest in using their technical skills to create value in their communities)  at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos, Yaba.

I am excited about this opportunity

Powered by ImpactLabs

Impactlabs is an initiative recently started by students and graduates of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University. The objective of this project is to provide hands-on engineering design and energy education to Nigerian students through real-life technology implementation projects. These projects will address specific energy and water needs in Lagos. The long-term goal of ImpactLabs is to create a sustainable local innovation space to foster the creative and scientific talents of Nigerian youth in the hopes of replicating the success of initiatives such as D-Lab at MIT.

Volunteering for a change!

“I want to die empty, I want to leave behind a legacy , I want to make a difference , I want the world to know that I came , I lived and I loved…”  http://youtu.be/_5x-y0NdzRw

As part of making a difference in the world , I started to volunteer ( in my ‘created’ time) for a foundation The Irede Foundation that empowers child amputees.

I managed a charity walk tagged “OUT ON A LIMB” which took place on the 12th of April 2014 in Lagos Nigeria.

In attendance was Ace Nollywood Actress, Kate Henshaw and Comedy Industry Pioneer, Ali Baba, top-notch personalities, professionals, members of the society and children .

The 2 kilometer walk which kicked off at about 8:30am from the YMCA Building premises as the convergent point on Awolowo Road Ikoyi had over 600 participants  who walked to Falomo Roundabout and back.

Aside the two entertainment veterans in the movie and comedy industry, other notable personalities in attendance were seasoned news archor and reporter of Channels TV, Adesewa Josh, Praise Fowowe, Diekololami Olu-Adegoke, and Winner of MTN Project Fame Season 5, Ayobami Ayoola, Road runners Cycling and Recreational club

Today 5 child amputees are smiling and on their way to getting their prosthetic limb.I am so excited.

Join me next year to extend limbs and raise champions.
